Philosophy and Rationale

Planning for a career is a life-long process that includes building an awareness of who you are, and a knowledge of careers for which you are best suited.
Careers of today and tomorrow are based on technology, communication, and service. Employers are looking for employees who have been in classes/activities that demonstrated social/technical skills. They request work skills which include good attendance, punctuality, communication (writing. speaking and listening), responsibility, cooperation, initiative, leadership, confidentiality and problem solving. Activities provide the opportunity to develop skills which are important when you apply for a job, for college/technical school admission, and in seeking scholarships.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in experiences that will allow them to develop and demonstrate to potential employers their work-related skills.
All students in the Bridgewater School District will integrate academic and vocational learning to prepare for family life, community living, and the world of work. This "Learning for Living” planning guide is designed to prepare students for their future. Work cluster information, recommended and required high school courses, and a graduation plan are provided to help you with your career planning.
